Pagis

Embedded amongst the vineyards, our wine estate lies below the Reinsberg Residence, 450 meters above sea level.

The historically valuable vineyard Pagis was already cultivated in the Middle Ages by the landed nobility of Appiano.

The slope borders on the vineyards of “Appiano/Monte” and is slightly inclined to the east. Due to the fall wind from the Mendel Mountains, we get the necessary day/night temperature variation, which positively affects the aroma development of the grapes, especially during the ripening period.

The deep, calcareous clay soils give the wines structure, harmony and character. The favourable conditions permit us to cultivate a range of different grape varieties with very satisfying results. There is proof that Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Schiava grapes have been grown in the vineyard “Pagis” for at least 200 years.
