Unterberg

This historic Pinot Noir vineyard at 450 meters above sea level, near the Tschindlhof Residence, is one of the most valuable vineyards in the district Appiano. The downward flow of cool air from the Mendel Mountains significantly influences the vineyard’s climate. The very calcareous loamy soils here are particularly suitable for Burgundy varieties. The high iron content in the calcareous marl terroir gives the Pinot Noir, among other aromas, a slight hint of blood orange. In this vineyard, we cultivate mainly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
